ITEM: School visit and workshop from screenwriter and novelist Irena Brignull.
DETAILS: I talk to the students about adapting books for the screen. Using clips from the movies I’ve written, we explore the differences between writing books and screenplays. Then we have a go at adapting a short passage together. I’m passionate about encouraging young people to have the confidence to write and share their work. Talk and books appropriate for year 6 upwards.
BIO: Irena Brignull is the author of YA novels ‘The Hawkweed Prophecy’ and ‘The Hawkweed Legacy’. She is also a screenwriter and credits include The Little Prince, The Boxtrolls and Skellig, and as a script editor, Shakespeare in Love, Captain Corelli’s Mandolin, I Capture the Castle and Bravo Two Zero.
WHO CAN BID: UK schools only please so I can travel there from London.
