DETAILS: Rebecca Smith will critique the first 10,000 words of your novel and send you a helpful report via email with advice on plotting, pace, characterization, setting etc. She will be happy to look at your synopsis and covering letter too. BIO: Rebecca Smith is the author of three novels published by Bloomsbury, The Bluebird Café, Happy Birthday and All That and A Bit of Earth as well as a two works of non-fiction, Jane Austen’s Guide to Modern Life’s Dilemmas (Ivy Press) and most recently The Jane Austen Writers’ Club: Inspiration and Advice from the World’s Best- Loved Novelist (Bloomsbury). Her first novel for children, Shadow Eyes, was shortlisted for the 2012 Kelpies Prize.  From 2009-2010 she was the Writer in Residence at Jane Austen’s House Museum in Chawton, Hampshire, and she still works closely with the Museum, running writing workshops.  Rebecca is a principal teaching fellow in English and Creative Writing at the University of Southampton.
